Discovery Bay Triathlon

Triathlon is coming to Discovery Bay! Calm Delta waters welcome athletes of all levels for .75 mile swim to be followed by a 20-mile, two lap bike course through the neighborhoods of Discovery Bay. Finish your race with a four-mile run on the levee, with Delta waterways on one side and lush farmland on the other.

Early registration (must be received by September 18, 2010):
$85 Individual
$110 per Relay Team (can be a two- or three-person relay team)

Kid's Rates (14 & Under)

Refund policy: Sorry, no refunds. However, if you provide us with 15-day notice that you cannot make the triathlon we will give you a $35 credit toward next year's event.

Note: This event is USAT sanctioned. As a USAT sanctioned event, all participants must either be current annual USAT members, or purchase a one-day license ($10).

Online registration closes Thursday, September 30 at 8:00 PM. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked by September 25, 2010.

Event info

Besides the course attributes, the Discovery Bay Triathlon aims to be known for being highly organized and extremely friendly. Our two Race Directors, Nikki Stadler and Julie Healy, are both triathletes themselves and they understand what athletes want out of an event. They love to create happy memories for their participants and recruit dozens of volunteers every year who make sure the athletes are well taken care of.

  • This event is USAT sanctioned
  • 2 or 3 persons may make up a relay team
  • Free bike inspection before the event
  • Helmets must be worn by all participants during the bike section
  • Each participant will receive a goodie-bag, technical T-shirt, and participant medal
  • No drafting is allowed
  • Stay after the event for music, food, and raffle prizes
  • Refund policy: Sorry, no refunds.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the overall individual female, male, relay (men's, women's and co-ed), and kids individual and relay teams for both the duathlon and triathlon. We will also have awards three-deep in each five-year age group category.

Course Description

Swim

The calm Delta waters off the Discovery Bay Yacht Harbor launch ramp will welcome swimmers of all levels. The course will be rectangular, counter clockwise, .375 miles out and back. Athletes will start in waves based on gender and age.

Bike

The bike course consists of two laps through the neighborhoods of Discovery Bay and Discovery Bay West. No drafting allowed.

Run

Finish off your race with a 4-mile run along the levee with views of the Delta waterways on one side and lush farmland on the other.
